ANIMATRONIC FAQ'S

My prop isn't making any sound?

Battery operated props:
  • Check & swap batteries.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries, they don’t provide enough power.
  • Make sure you are using high quality batteries.
  • Check plastic battery saver tab has been removed from the battery compartment.
 
For all props check:
  • The volume dial is turned up.
  • The selector switch is set to ON or SENSOR.

The LEDs are not working?

  • Ensure wires are connected correctly, try disconnecting & reconnecting.
  • Check the LEDs have not become detached from their mounting position on the prop.

My prop isn't moving as it should?

For battery powered props, check and swap batteries.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries, they do not provide enough power. Use good quality batteries.
  • For mains powered props, check the power adapter is plugged in at the wall and switched on.
  • Check the wire connection to the motor, try disconnecting & reconnecting.
  • Check there are no obstructions to the motor or frame.
  • Check all wire connector colours match and are connected firmly.
  • For flat plastic connectors also try gently pushing the individual wires in to the connector.

Can I use my own power supply?

Only use the power adapter provided with your prop. Using an incorrect voltage or connector is likely to damage your prop and invalidate your warranty. If you’re unsure then please always contact us for advice before using the prop. 
 
Our large mains powered animatronics are supplied with a UK only power adapter or a multi-connector adapter (UK, EU, USA, AUS).

Most smaller props are battery powered but some are also compatible with a suitable power adapter that can be purchased separately from us.  Details will be provided on the product listing where relevant.

Does my prop come with a fog machine?

Some props, like the Winter Dragon, are compatible with fog machines but we do not currently stock them. 
Any fog machine used MUST follow the following advice:
  • Maximum 400 watts.
  • Fog output nozzle must match any hoses supplied with the props.
  • Never use the fog machine in a continuous mode as this can damage the prop.
  • The fog machine must be controlled via the fog machine trigger adapter supplied with the prop.
  • Ensure there are no blockages or restrictions on the fog hoses.

Can my prop be used outside?

If props are designed for use outdoors, they will be marked as such.
Other props can be used outdoors in dry, calm, weather for short periods if the following precautions are taken:
  • Place the prop under a protective covering like a marquee or porch. 
  • Avoid exposure to wind, rain or moisture. 
  • Always take care when plugging in power outdoors. Ensure all power connectors or extension cables used are suitably certified for outdoor use.

I can only find one shoe/foot?

When packed, shoes are often nested inside each other so check this before reporting a missing item.

Why is my prop's jaw clicking?

Note: this advice is specific to the Prowling Jack & Jack Stalker props.

This can usually be fixed by gently realigning the jaw.

There is a support pole that runs through the back of the jaw.
Carefully move the jaw side to side to pop it back into alignment.

Why does prop only has a limited number of sounds/phrases/actions?

  • Check the control box switch is not set to demo/test mode.
  • Ensure any “Try Me” wires have been removed.
 

My prop's sensor isn't working?

  • Check that the control box selector switch is set to “sensor” mode. 
  • Check the sensor wire is connected to the control box firmly.
  • Check the sensor is not obstructed or covered by the clothing or fur of the prop.
  • Ensure there is ample clear space in front of the prop to allow the sensor to work.

My jumping animatronic isn’t jumping?

For props like the jumping spider, check that the springs are attached to the central pole. Please refer to the prop instruction manual as to how to attach.
Check there are no obstructions.

    All large animated props are covered by over guarantee for one year from purchase.
    If you have a problem with your prop within a year of purchase we will do our very best to get you up and running again. We have access to parts from the manufacturers and will provide the parts needed free of charge within this first year. Replacement parts are usually the quickest and easiest way to get your prop working again.
    If there’s no part available we will arrange a replacement prop for you.
    Please note – the 1 year guarantee for Home Depot and Spirit props is slightly different. Unfortunately, while we do have access to parts, they take a long time to arrive with us and we are not be able to get them in time for this Halloween. If you do not want to wait for the part to arrive you can return it for a full refund, as long as it is returned to us before Halloween.
    We don’t provide refunds on any used props after Halloween but if your prop develops a fault within a year of purchase, we’ll get it working again for you ready for next year!
  • Access to Spare Parts: If your prop develops a fault outside of the guarantee period, we have direct access to manufacturer parts at a reasonable price.
